Demolition Begins on Glen Cove’s Downtown Village Square

RXR Realty To Build New Multi-Use Development

Glen Cove, NY, September 7, 2017… Glen Cove Mayor Reggie Spinello and City Council members Nick DiLeo Jr. and Pamela Panzenbeck joined RXR Realty executives Frank Haftel and Joseph Graziose to commence the demolition of Glen Cove’s Village Square. “Today marks a critical milestone for our city as we begin the long awaited start of a dynamic new downtown development,” said Mayor Reggie Spinello.  “Through a strong partnership with RXR Realty, these long abandoned buildings will be replaced with a project that will bring vitality, new residents and new stores back to downtown Glen Cove.”

Joined by members of the Glen Cove Industrial Development Agency, the Downtown BID along with business owners, residents and the media, the crowd roared with excitement when the claw of the crane took its first bite out of Building C.  The demolition of the buildings will continue for the next few weeks as RXR Realty clears the way for a brand new Village Square complete with 146 new rental residential units, 16,500 square feet of retail and a 17,500-square-foot civic plaza. This new downtown project is scheduled to open in the spring of 2019.
