The Glen Cove Senior Center has been going strong since 1979. Its initial mission was a simple but important one of providing a daily nutritious meal to the senior community, but over the years, the Center has expanded its programming and services so that we are able to nourish and support most if not all needs of our ever-expanding senior population. The Center serves members age sixty years and older and currently supports approximately 1,600 members.

We proudly provide approximately 25,000 meals per year, and that number is growing as is the menu selection. We have recently added a monthly breakfast and monthly evening programming, which includes a fabulous dinner, to reach out to a younger senior population who may still be working during the day.

The Glen Cove Senior Center is considered to be a model center that welcomes all residents who live in Nassau County and will bus those members who live in our catchment area of Glenwood Landing, Glen Head, Sea Cliff, and Glen Cove.

There are two programs available at the Glen Cove Senior Center. One is designed for independent seniors seeking intellectual stimulation, socialization, and a wide array of activities, lectures, workshops, and trips.

Our continuum of care Adult Day Program is designed for seniors with physical and cognitive challenges. This particular program focuses on providing nutrition as well as entertainment and stimulation geared to a level that is beneficial to all of its participants and currently serves forty families with caregiver respite and resources.

The Senior Center provides social services assistance ranging from housing and healthcare needs to counseling and case management. Although the bulk of what the Center offers is housed within the walls at 130 Glen Street, we are very present within the surrounding communities outreaching in a number of ways. We have a Friendly Visiting Program, a Virtual Senior Center that reaches homebound seniors, and a volunteer corps that exceeds 250 in number who play a vital role in supporting community needs.

IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO SERVE OUR OLDER RESIDENTS!

The Glen Cove Senior Center is funded by the Nassau County Office for the Aging through the New York State Office for the Aging and the U.S. Administration on Aging and the City of Glen Cove with additional support from the Glen Cove SAGE Foundation.
