Community Development Agency

Mission Statement (Adopted March 10, 2011)

The Glen Cove Community Development Agency’s purpose is to plan and implement programs involving rehabilitation and revitalization of both residential and commercial sectors of the City of Glen Cove, foster economic growth, provide assistance to public service organizations, eliminate blight and improve opportunities for low and moderate income citizens.

The City is a member of the Nassau County Consortium and eligible for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The CDA administers the program on behalf of the City. The volunteer CDA six member Board of Directors is chaired by Mayor Panzenbeck. The CDA administers the HUD Housing Choice voucher program.

Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8)

Established by Congress in 1974. The program is administered in every state throughout the United States. The Choice Voucher Program is administered with funding provided by United States Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and follows strict guidelines set forth by HUD. The Program helps eligible families (that fall within the income guidelines determined by Nassau County) permanent rental housing by subsidizing a portion of the monthly rent.  The Glen Cove Program administers 340 vouchers for rental housing and is not currently accepting applications.
