The Personnel Department strives to provide the City and its employees with a centralized system of recruitment, Civil Service Commission support, employee benefits administration, and policy compliance related to employment regulations.  The office is located on the second floor of City Hall in room 205 and can be contacted by phone at (516) 676-4814 and by fax at (516) 676-5360.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION

The City's employee benefits packages vary according to employment status.  Some benefits are only available to full-time employees and some benefits are also available to part-time and seasonal employees.  The list below describes the main employment benefits.

Open To All Employees

NYS Retirement System: This pension plan is available to all employees without regard to employment status.  It is an optional plan for part-time, seasonal, and temporary employees, and it is mandatory for all permanent full-time employees.  The required employee contribution for this benefit varies with salary level from 3% to 6% of salary for new members. NYS Deferred Compensation Plan: This supplemental retirement savings plan is an option for all employees without regard to employment status.  The Plan differs from other defined contribution retirement plans (like a 401-k or 403-b), because it is designed and managed with public employees in mind. Open To Full-Time Employees

NYSHIP Empire Plan: This health insurance plan is available to all full-time employees.  The required employee contribution for this benefit is 10% of the monthly premium for new employees. The enrollment application is provided during orientation. The plan can be reached at (877) 769-7447.

HealthPlex Dental Plan: This dental insurance plan is available to all full-time management employees and employees represented by the PBA.  The enrollment application is available online and provided during orientation.  The form to make changes to the plan is available online here. CPS Optical Vision Plan: This vision insurance plan is available to all full-time management employees and employees represented by the PBA.  Enrollment in this plan is automatic for those enrolled in HealthPlex.  The plan can be reached at (212) 675-5745.

CSEA-EBF Plan: This dental and vision insurance plan is available to all full-time employees represented by the CSEA.  The enrollment application is available online and provided during orientation.  The plan can be reached at (800) 323-2732.
