Scheduled Hydrant Flushing

The City of Glen Cove Water Department will be conducting its semi-annual fire hydrant flushing of

85 dead-end water mains on Tuesday, April 1, 2025-—weather permitting, and continue

for approximately four (4) weeks.

This operation will take place Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 3:00pm.

Residents may notice discolored water and reduced water pressure during this time.  The discoloration will clear up as we move out of your area. If you experience discolored water, please allow the cold water to run for 5 to 10 minutes until it clears. Water customers are cautioned to check for discoloration, particularly prior to using washing machines.

This process is to clean accumulated dissolved mineral sediments in the water mains prior to the system’s peak usage period. The water discoloration poses no health risk. Customers may choose to keep a supply of clear water in the refrigerator for drinking and cooking during periods of any discoloration in the water.

We appreciate your cooperation and apologize

for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you
