PUBLIC ADVISORY: Cooling Centers Open in Glen Cove During Heat Wave
With a heat wave forecasted, the City of Glen Cove is encouraging all residents—especially older adults, young children, and those with underlying health conditions—to take precautions during periods of extreme heat.
Cooling Center Information:
The Glen Cove Senior Center (130 Glen Street) will be open as an official cooling center Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Residents are strongly encouraged to use this facility to stay safe and cool.
In the event the Senior Center is closed for any reason, the Glen Cove Police Department will provide free transportation to a designated Nassau County cooling site.
Heat Safety Tips:

Stay hydrated—drink plenty of water

Limit time outdoors during peak heat hours
Know the Symptoms of Heat Stroke:

Unusually heavy sweating

Shortness of breath

Dizziness or confusion
If you or someone around you shows signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
Additionally, Glen Cove’s public beaches are open for swimming daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, providing another way for residents to cool off safely.
